My roommates boyfriend was explaining to me why "Cracker Jacks" are called "Cracker Jacks"..
His theory is (which is hilarious) that a White Slave master had a bunch of slaves in the south. He use to go and make then go out and pick the corn and whatnot in the fields. The slaves thought he was crazy so they developed the name "Cracker Jack" for the slave owner.....Funny isn't it?
